Description

A ringfenced block of productive arable land which lies separate to the main Estate on the western edge of the village of Chilmark. The land falls with the Cranborne Chase National Landscape and is on the Dorset / Wiltshire border. Split into three fields, with a small block of woodland, the land has road access on the northern and southern boundaries.

On the southern boundary there are far reaching, panoramic views over the Nadder and Wylye Valley. The soil is productive, shallow, lime rich, loamy in texture, free draining and lies over chalk or limestone reducing the acidity levels and producing high sources of calcium and magnesium. As with the main Estate the land has been farmed under a Contract Farming Agreement, on a traditional arable crop rotation.

Part of Lot 6 is subject to an existing overage agreement for a period of 50 years from the 30th July 2018. A footpath bisects the southeastern corner of the land.
