West Chase is situated in the heart of Cranborne Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and International Dark Sky Reserve. It is set amongst attractive and rolling countryside in an elevated position on the southern edge of the Chalke Valley with stunning far reaching views. The valley stretches from Salisbury in the east to Shaftesbury in the west.

West Chase is within the parish of Bowerchalke, and it, as well as Ebbesbourne Wake, are the two closest villages to the north. Broadchalke is also in the Chalke Valley where the river Chalke flows into the River Ebble. The village sits on the banks of the River Ebble, which feeds the watercress beds for which it is renowned. The tranquil villages of the Chalke Valley offer a wealth of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy, as well as some of the regions most interesting and beautiful topography.

Broadchalke has a church, local primary school, village shop and public house. The village of Sixpenny Handley lies approximately two miles to the south of West Chase and benefits from a local village shop, butcher, cricket ground, church and primary school. The Cathedral City of Salisbury lies fifteen miles to the north east and offers a wide range of recreational, educational and cultural amenities as well as first class shopping and events in the market square. The New Forest is 15 miles to the east.

West Chase has excellent communication links. The A303 lies approximately 12 miles to the north providing access to London, Exeter and the West Country. The A350 runs north from nearby Shaftesbury providing access to the City of Bath. There are a number of railway stations in the area, Salisbury and Tisbury being the nearest, with the former offering a direct route into London in approximately 90 minutes.

The area is renowned for an excellent choice of schools including Bryanston, Clayesmore, Sandroyd, Canford, Knighton House, Hanford, Godolphin, Port Regis, Sherborne, King's Bruton, Marlborough, Salisbury Cathedral School and many others. Salisbury has two well-regarded grammar schools. Broadchalke village has an Ofsted rated 'outstanding' primary school.

West Chase offers its own private shoot and stalking. Local sporting facilities include horse racing at Salisbury, golf at Rushmore Park and water sports along the Dorset coastline. Local hunts include The Wilton, Portman, Blackmore and Sparkford Vale, South & West Wilts and Cattistock, among others. Surrounding estates all offer shooting on a commercial let-day basis, and the Chalke Valley is well known for its chalk stream fishing and annual History Festival.
