Northampton Northern Orbital Route The Northampton Northern Orbital Route is a proposal for a new road which will relieve traffic from the north of Northampton and surrounding villages.
The road is also needed to help with the growth proposals to the north and west of Northampton and the road is expected to create capacity for future development beyond that already planned.
The route options were consulted on in 2017, the consultation closing on 4th August 2017 but to date there is no definite selected option although the proposals include routes that affect this land
No work of significance has been undertaken on the Northern Orbital scheme since the consultation, West Northamptonshire Council are currently working on the development of both their next Local Plan and Local Transport Plan and as part of this the need and strategic case for the Northern Orbital Scheme will be considered.
