Accessed from the top road or bottom road, Coed Y Bryn is a mix of re-gen and mature trees. Flanked by a public footpath, this track leads you alongside old walls and historic extraction routes. These extraction tracks lead into flat areas ripe for exploration. There are levels, and towering buttresses - many of which we haven't even explored. These track ways lead to some large open levels surrounded by mysterious walls - really worth an explore. There is even the remails of a quarry area on the southern boundary
The area is rich in wildlife, beautifully protected by an SSSI. Mature Beech and robust Yew are intermixed with the usual Ash, Rowen, Birch etc. The area was felled of coniferous trees. What is now here is a rich new growth and ancient Beech.
Based in a quiet area of the Nant Alyn area this is an ideal area to start exploring from. It is ripe for some gentle woodland management.
