Located over mostly level chalk flint soils with some undulations in areas, its canopy includes wonderful oak standards (a number of these are of excellent quality), beech, ash, cherry and birch. Within the shrub layer below, you will notice lush hawthorn, holly, younger ash and hazel coppice - some of which appears to be upwards of 40 years old. A new owner might want to consider removing this before it becomes too overstood, the stools would then regenerate with a fresh and usable crop of hazel poles some 7 to 10 years later. During the warmer seasons, patches of colourful ground flora, including bluebell, wood anemones, wood sorrel, and red campion, create a vibrant woodland display.
The few fallen trees would provide a welcoming shelter for wildlife if left in situ, or could create a healthy supply of fuel once logged.
Attracted to the peaceful setting, treecreeper, owl, woodpecker, greenfinch and many acoustical songbirds make up the feathered population. Woodland mammals include deer (muntjac, roe and fallow), wood mouse, badger, hare and fox.

"I would select a few ash, and perhaps the larger hazel coppice, to create a handy supply of domestic firewood for the hearth. I may also consider clearing some space to trailer in a mobile sawmill for oak planks, as some of the stems look appropriate for this. Demand for oak is fairly strong, so this could potentially provide for a local craftsperson. A family den making competition would certainly be a fantastic way to spend a Saturday."
